I just noticed that it has been almost three years since I made a “portfolio” post which might make it look like that I haven’t actually done any work during that time. On the contrary, as well as the study, helping to raise two children and ongoing support tasks for older websites, I’ve worked on several large projects. So here is a short post briefly discussing some of the bigger projects that I’ve worked on in the last 18 months*, starting with the most recent.

Incipio Group own a handful of London-base bars/nightclubs and Without recently took over the management of their websites with a brief to completely redevelop them. Due to launch in the coming days, Bloom is the first venue to use the new theme that I have developed for the chain.

This project was the first time I had the opportunity to play with Gutenberg. It took me a few days to get the hang of it but I really like it. It makes building and managing complex templates so much easier. At the same time, I completely modernise my development workflow – something that I’ve been meaning to do for a while.

I also created a plugin for their booking platform, ResDiary. It was a lot fo work; requiring a certification process, learning their API, improving my Javascript skills and understanding the latest Stripe updates (for SCA). I’m really happy with the end product though.

The bulk of the development was done by my friends at Lighthouse London; I took over at the very end of the build to get the website live and day-to-day maintenance.

Since then I have added an ecommerce section (using WooCommerce) as well as lots of smaller change requests/improvements.

Three years after I developed the Third Space website, they decided it was time to refresh the website’s look and feel. The new design was launched on a section by section basis (starting with the most important pages) rather than wait six+ months to release it all in one go. To keep my code clean, I created a completely new theme and used the following hack to load this new theme for specified URLs.

Sushi Daily (not to be confused with their parent company, Sushi Daily) went live at the end of 2018 and amusingly there are still several pages that haven’t been published. Oh well..

* Yes, I know, but what about the 18 months before that? Well, it feels so long ago that I can barely remember and the ones that I can remember are already looking a bit dated. But here are a few websites that I made in that period Fluidly, Coppa Club, The Great House at Sonning, and Without.
